Slovak Telekom is launching an expanded summer campaign starting July 1, 2026, focused on the collection, exchange, and trade-in of electronic devices. It builds on the successful EKO voucher program introduced by the operator in 2024, aimed at motivating customers to recycle old electronics in exchange for a discount on new devices. This year, Telekom is adding new benefits, including the trade-in of selected smartphones, an offer of phones with no upfront payment, and expanded options for handing in old devices.
“Every old phone that doesn’t end up forgotten in a drawer, but instead gets a second life or is recycled, represents value both for the customer and for the environment. Our ambition is to offer customers more ways to handle old electronics simply, conveniently, and advantageously,” says Martina Kandera, Director of the Residential Customer Division at Slovak Telekom.
EKO voucher with discounts of up to €90
The cornerstone of the campaign remains the EKO voucher program. Customers can return old devices, including non-functional or damaged phones, and receive a voucher worth at least €40. For selected Samsung and Xiaomi devices, the benefit can reach up to €90. The voucher can be used to purchase any device from Telekom’s portfolio with a plan.
New: smartphone trade-in worth up to €420
A new part of the campaign is the trade-in of selected smartphones for residential customers. Customers can bring a functional device to a Telekom store and receive a voucher for purchasing new hardware. The value of the voucher ranges from €120 to €420 depending on the specific model. Currently, 22 smartphone models are included in the trade-in program. The device must be functional, able to power on and charge, without significant mechanical damage, and not blocked via a Google account or Apple ID. The trade-in process takes place exclusively in Telekom stores, where the device is inspected, a trade-in agreement is signed, and the customer receives a voucher for purchasing a new device. The voucher can also be used for installment purchases. Trade-in vouchers cannot be combined with EKO vouchers and are valid until December 24, 2026.
Selected phones with no upfront payment
The campaign also includes an offer of seven selected smartphones from Samsung, Xiaomi, and Apple with no upfront payment. Customers only need to bring any old device and can get a new smartphone included in their plan, with no additional upfront cost. The offer is tied to a 24-month contract and applies only to selected device and service combinations.
Ice cream for small electronics
The campaign also considers devices that do not have significant trade-in value but often end up unused at home. Customers can bring small electronics and accessories such as smart bands, headphones, power banks, and chargers to Telekom stores, regardless of their condition. In return, they receive a benefit in the form of ice cream through the Magenta Moments program. Ice cream is also available to customers who receive an EKO voucher for returning an old, non-functional, or damaged phone, as well as those who trade in one of the 22 mobile phones. The condition is having an active fixed or mobile service and being logged into the Telekom app.
Telekom expands collection of old devices via Slovak Post
A new addition is the expansion of options for handing in devices. In addition to in-store returns at Telekom centers, customers can send old devices for recycling through the Packeta network, introduced in the previous campaign. Starting this summer, options are further expanded through cooperation with Slovak Post, making it even easier for more customers to hand in old devices via a network of more than 2,000 collection points. “We are pleased to be part of this project and help customers send unused devices as conveniently as possible through label-free shipping. Customers only need to write the generated number provided by Telekom on the package. They can then drop it into any Slovak Post BalíkoBOX, a partner AlzaBox, or bring it to any branch and simply leave it at the designated drop-off area for online shipments without waiting. Slovak Post takes care of the rest,” explains Vladislav Kupka, CEO of Slovak Post.
More options for customers and the environment
Through this campaign, Telekom combines three approaches to old electronics—recycling, trade-in, and exchange for new devices. It responds to situations where customers own non-functional devices intended for recycling, as well as cases where they have a functional smartphone that can get a second life.
Electronic devices contain many valuable materials that can be reused and reintroduced into production. Despite this, millions of old phones and devices remain unused in households. The expanded summer campaign therefore provides customers with more reasons to dispose of them responsibly and advantageously.
Continuation of a successful initiative
The EKO voucher program was launched by Telekom in 2024 as a summer initiative supporting the collection and recycling of old electronics. In 2026, it builds on this concept with its most extensive version yet, bringing higher benefits, new usage options, and more convenient ways to return devices.
